Career Services helps students secure internships and full-time employment.
Counselors are available to help students make career decisions, discuss career transitioning and develop plans to build experience into their educational program through internships.
A variety of other services are offered through the department, including job and internship fairs, resume and cover letter reviews and an online job search database.
Each fall and spring, the university hosts an internship fair for students and a full-time job fair for graduating students and alumni.
Every spring, approximately 150 school districts participate in the Mid-America Educators' Job Fair. This fair is open to NIU students and alumni, as well as candidates from other universities.
Part-time jobs for students provide a valuable work experience and help to offset the costs of attending school.
While attending NIU, a student may work on campus up to 20 hours per week.
Employment opportunities are frequently available for students who demonstrate financial need through the College Work-Study Program.
