Once You Are Admitted ...

  • Transfer Students: You must confirm your plans to attend NIU with the Office of Admissions, upon receiving an admissions offer notification.
    • Confirm your plans to attend NIU on MYNIU.
    • You must "Confirm" to be invited to attend new Transfer Student Orientation for initial academic advising and course registration procedures. Only admitted and confirmed Transfer Students are eligible to attend the new Transfer Student Orientation program. 
  • Once you have confirmed your intention to enroll and the complete evaluation of transferable courses has been completed, you may view the evaluation on-line at your MYNIU page.
  • Check your planned major academic college or department web site for additional academic advising information.
  • Transfer students must submit an official transcript after each term completed and must submit final, official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. 
  • Transfer applicants with less than 24 completed semester hours of transferable college credit must also send final official high school transcripts, official ACT or SAT test scores, and meet Freshman admissions criteria in addition to meeting all Transfer admissions criteria.
  • Have you sent your official ACT/SAT scores to NIU?
    • Applicants with less than 24 completed semester hours of transferable college credit must submit a final official  high school transcript and submit an official ACT score report (sent to NIU by ACT Inc.) or SAT score report (sent to NIU by the College Board).
    • NIU's ACT code is 1102.
    • NIU's SAT code is 1559.
  • Applicants with 24 or more completed semester hours of transferable college credit must meet Transfer admissions criteria and are not required to submit high school transcripts, ACT/SAT official scores, or to meet Freshman admissions criteria.
  • NIU provides several options for students to view how specific courses transfer to NIU before receiving a formal transfer course evaluation. See the NIU Transfer Center for details and links to transfer information sites.
